Thanks so much for posting these tutorials. They are extremely helpful in breaking things down. I did have one question, & while it may be obvious to some, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it. How does the black from the cardstock the stencil was cut on disappear? Does this have to do with the shutter speed or something else? The background ended up looking transparent, even though it is clearly not from the process pics.

I had never thought to use stencils in long exposures shot. Bravo sir. :) I'll be using this technique myself in the future! :D
